Areas named Diamond Partner for FAB 2025 Barcelona event

SPAIN. Areas is lending its support as Diamond Partner for the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards to be held in Barcelona, Spain on 25-26 June.

Hosted by Spanish airports operator Aena, the highly anticipated annual event will culminate in the FAB Awards Ceremony during the Gala Dinner on 26 June, with the FAB Superstars winners unveiled earlier during the conference.

Owned and managed by The Moodie Davitt Report, the world’s only global airport food & beverage and hospitality event will bring together senior executives from airports, food & beverage concessionaires and hospitality service providers, as well as business partners from around the world.

Areas is among the global leaders in food & beverage and travel retail, with a network of over 1,900 restaurants and stores across 11 countries in Europe and the Americas.

Its team of 20,000 serves more than 350 million customers annually at key transport hubs, including airports, train stations and highway travel plazas, as well as leisure parks. Established in 1968 in Barcelona, Areas is committed to enhancing the traveller experience through high-quality services and a diverse portfolio of restaurant concepts.

Areas CEO Óscar Vela said: “We’re proud to support the FAB Awards 2025 as Diamond Partner. It will be a key moment to exchange ideas, explore industry trends, and celebrate the creativity and dedication that make travel F&B so unique.

Areas recently unveiled SELF, described as the first robotic restaurant powered by artificial intelligence (AI) at an airport. The Barcelona Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport Terminal 1 installation allows travellers to place their orders at automated kiosks and receive a QR code while a robotic arm, powered with machine vision, prepares their requests.

“Having the conference in Barcelona this year makes it even more special for us, it’s where Areas was born and where our global headquarters are still based today.

“The FAB Awards represent everything we strive for as a company – innovation, excellence and putting travellers first. We’re excited to celebrate the achievements of our teams and the entire industry at this year’s FAB Awards.”

FAB Founder, The Moodie Davitt Report Chairman Martin Moodie, said: “We are honoured and delighted to welcome Areas as Diamond Partner for FAB 2025 in the company’s home city. Barcelona and Catalonia rank among the world’s great foodie destinations, boasting a rich gastronomic tradition deeply imbued in local heritage and culture.

“Areas has long been an avid supporter of FAB and a regular FAB Awards winner, underlining the company’s dual commitment to the sector and to quality dining. We always knew that bringing FAB to Barcelona was a great idea; now we can promise the event will be that much more special.”
