Garden Improvement Project

Hi all! This is my first post here. It got removed before, not sure why so I'm trying again. I just wanted to show off my modest garden improvement. I meant modest as in small and cheap - the effort was large, especially since I don't own a car or a wheelbarrow! Heh. First, we got someone to pick up the gravel by posting on the local second hand/marketplace website. Then I found some free tiles on the same website. I picked them up with my parents car, driving veeeery slowly. Also, my partner got about 0,5 cubic metres of yellow sand, also for free, picked it up in bags (three consecutive trips!). My parents brought us some plant soil in bags. Unfortunately, because the tiles were rough and not smooth like I thought from the pictures, I had to replace some of the tiles on the sides of the tiled area. I moved the edge beams, supported by the bags of soil, and filled a space for two rows of tiles with sand. Tried to get the sand to set mostly by walking around on it, and by hammering the tiles with a rubber hammer. Then emptied the bags of soil on the other side of the edge beam. I had to re-do each tile a few times, but so far nothing has sagged (a few weeks in). I also made a 3 by 4 path. We bought a few extra bags of soil and also some sand at the local DIY store, and my partner planted and sowed a few things. Currently enjoying the first seedlings coming up! submitted by /u/-BloomingLotus- [link] [comments]
