Meet ASUS’ Latest Flagship Phone, the Zenfone 12 Ultra

ASUS recently announced the launch of its latest expansion to its Zenfone line with the new Zenfone 12 Ultra, which packs some familiar features both inside and out, while still managing to set a slight distinction between the company’s “standard” Zenfone flagships and its ROG line of gaming smartphones.

While it does resemble recent ASUS ROG phones, the Zenfone 12 Ultra comes with a less-ambitious design which can be seen by the lack of specialized LED lighting on the rear panel. The phone’s glass and metal chassis houses a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 1080×2400 pixel resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, topped off by a peak brightness of 2,500 nits and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

Unsurprisingly, the phone runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, backed by up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The phone ships with Android 15 pre-installed, although ASUS says that it will only provide up to two major Android upgrades for the phone, meaning that once Android 17 arrives you’re only left with security patches, at least as far as software updates are concerned.

For cameras, there’s a triple-lens setup headed by a 50MP main camera, a 32MP telephoto camera, and a 13MP ultrawide camera, complemented by a 32MP selfie camera. Other details include a 5,500 mAh battery with 65W charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an in-display fingerprint reader.

Priced at around 1,000 EUR, it should be mentioned that the Zenfone 12 Ultra isn’t headed for North American markets anytime soon, so any interested buyers might have to go the extra mile of importing one from overseas.
