With the new change in the selection process, it made it harder than ever to make the cut. The new process sent three Senior candidates, one coach and one contributor to the final round. The Senior candidates were Sterling Sharpe, Maxie Baughan and Jim Tyrer. The coach was Mike Holmgren and the contributor was Ralph Hay. Once those five were identified, voters cast their ballots for three of them, with an 80 percent approval rate required for any candidate to earn selection.
