The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is the latest flagship phone from Samsung. It is also one of the company’s more expensive phones, which means that you’ll want to treat it with kid gloves if you decide to buy it. However, it turns out the phone is more durable than we thought. This is thanks to a Galaxy S25 Ultra drop test conducted by PBKreviews.

Shatter-free

According to the Galaxy S25 Ultra drop test, the phone held up surprisingly well. Obviously dropping it on solid concrete will result in some damage. The phone did show signs of some scrapes, but like we said, surprisingly enough it wasn’t too bad. We would have expected a ton of scratches and paint chipping off, but that wasn’t the case. This is probably thanks to the use of titanium used to build the frame of the phone.

Another surprising point of the Galaxy S25 Ultra drop test was how well the glass of the display held its own. Normally in drop tests, we see the glass either shatter or crack in certain areas. However, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s display survived without any perceivable damage.

This could be due to several factors. Unlike its predecessor, which had curved edges, the Galaxy S25 Ultra features a flat display. Curved screens tend to be more vulnerable to impact due to the fact that more of the glass is exposed. Whereas flat design can help distribute force more evenly.

Another potential reason is the use of softer glass material. There are reports claiming that Samsung is using a softer glass for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Some viewed it as a potential downgrade since it scratches more easily than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, Samsung could have their reasons.

Typically, harder materials are more prone to shattering upon impact as they are more rigid. By opting to use a softer glass, the phone’s display won’t shatter as easily. Sure, it might scratch easier, but at least it won’t shatter. There’s a chance Samsung might have seen more repair cases involving shattered screens rather than scratched-up ones.

Hardly scientific

That being said, keep in mind that this test is hardly scientific. This means that just because the Galaxy S25 Ultra did not scratch up too badly or didn’t have its display shatter in this video doesn’t mean it won’t happen to you. You should still probably be careful with the phone if you’re hoping it will last you a long time. You can check out some of these screen protectors for the Galaxy S25 Ultra if you’re interested.
