Google is already rolling out the February 2025 update for Pixel devices. Like last month’s one, the February update is focused primarily on bug fixes and solutions to existing vulnerabilities. Particularly notable are a couple of fixes to audio output in Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity.

The OTA update is available for all Pixel devices from generation 6 onwards—including the Google Pixel Tablet. It has the build number AP4A.250205.002, although it may differ slightly if your Pixel phone is carrier-locked. Anyway, the update also has the security patch dated February 5, 2025.

The two most notable fixes in terms of user experience are related to Android Auto and Bluetooth behavior. In Android Auto, the latest update fixes an issue affecting audio output “under certain conditions.” On the other hand, a Bluetooth issue that occasionally prevented other devices and accessories from connecting to your phone or tablet has also been resolved. Interestingly, the Bluetooth bug only applies to the Google Pixel 9 series, while the Android Auto one affected all models.

The update also includes important security fixes for Pixel phones and Android in general. There are dozens of high-level CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). There’s also a “High” level fix that was exclusively affecting Google Pixel phones and was related to the battery mitigation subcomponent. As Android Police notes, this particular vulnerability is labeled as “Information Disclosure (ID).” This means that it potentially gave attackers access to sensitive data.

You can check for the update’s availability on your Pixel by going to Settings > System > Software updates > System update > Check for updates. It may take a little longer for it to reach carrier-locked devices. In addition to Google, Samsung shared the details of its February 2025 update yesterday. The patch in question includes 36 fixes from Google to Android’s core and four fixes to issues related to Samsung’s hardware/software.
