KTM Komuter free rides for Thaipusam 2025, Feb 10-11

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will be offering free rides to travellers on the KTM Komuter line in the Klang Valley over two days, February 10 and 11 in conjunction with Thaipusam which will be celebrated on February 11 this year, Bernama reported.

The free-of-charge Komuter train rides will be available from midnight to 11:59pm on the day, and travellers are to use the check-out scanning mechanism at the automatic control gates (ACG), said transport minister Anthony Loke.

To enjoy the free-of-charge travel, travellers are to use cashless methods including the KTMB Mobile app, Komuter Link, Touch ‘n Go, MyDebit and credit cards, and physical QR tickets obtained from ticket counters. For travel on regular dates, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and children aged two to six years will be given a 50% discount, while children below the age of two travel for free.

Additionally, the KTM Komuter service will be operating 24 hours a day for four days and three nights, from February 9 to 12, 2025, and the Port Klang-Tanjung Malim-Port Klang route will be running a full travel schedule throughout this festive period, the transport minister said.

The initiative is aimed at meeting passenger demand, particularly from Hindu devotees, tourists and members of the public who wish to experience the Thaipusam celebrations in Batu Caves, Loke said.

Nearly 500,000 passengers are expected to benefit from this service, representing a 10% increase over the same period last year, and peak travel is expected on February 11, he added.
