Oscars Short Films 2025: The Nominees
With voting complete, the Academy Awards move to the next stage: the highly anticipated nomination announcements.
Today is a pivotal moment for the short films that made it onto the Oscar shortlists, as filmmakers learn if they’ve progressed one step closer to an Academy Award with the announcement of the nominations. The 45 shortlisted films have now been narrowed down to just 15—five in each of the three categories: Best Animated Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film, and Best Live Action Short Film.
While we shared our favorites in our Voter’s Guide, the final decision rested with Academy members, who selected the following films moving forward. While we’ll have to wait until the awards ceremony on Sun 2nd March to discover the winners, keeping checking back with this article and we’ll update it if any more of the short films come online.
