Report: Raptors acquire James Wiseman, cash from Pacers

A former second-overall pick is headed to Toronto.

The Raptors acquired James Wiseman from the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. Toronto will also receive cash in the deal.

It remains to be seen if the centre will ever don a Raptors jersey.

Wiseman, 23, is out for the season after tearing his left Achilles in October. He is on a minimum contract with a $2.2 million cap hit this season and has a $2.5 million club option for 2025-26.

Drafted first overall in 2020 by the Golden State Warriors, Wiseman has bounced around the league over his five-year career.

The Warriors traded him to the Detroit Pistons two years ago, and he joined the Pacers in free agency over the off-season.

Wiseman is averaging 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game across 148 career contests.
