Some lucky people who pre-ordered a device in the Galaxy S25 series have already received it. Samsung began shipping this month, although most are still waiting for their phone. That said, it seems the company has healthy sales expectations for its latest flagship phones. A reputable analyst has claimed that Samsung wants to ship 40 million units of the Galaxy S25 lineup.

The tip comes from reliable industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The post on X/Twitter claims the South Korean giant has a shipment target of “around 40M.” Kuo hopes the strength of Qualcomm’s brand, the supplier of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor present in all models in the lineup, will help the company achieve its goal.

The numbers don’t seem crazy or difficult to achieve at the current rate. Samsung said that the Galaxy S25 series achieved a record 1.3 million preorders in South Korea alone. This is 7% more compared to the preorders of the Galaxy S24 series. For reference, Samsung shipped about 37 million Galaxy S24 units last year. So, the company expects an increase of around 10% in these numbers for the new-generation models. As usual, the Galaxy S25 Ultra should be the most popular variant in the family.

It’s noteworthy that the Galaxy S25 series received criticism after its announcement. Samsung maintains a trend that some consider too conservative or continuist. There are no revolutionary changes in terms of hardware, or at least some aspects where there is a big jump from the previous generation (except for the raw power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip). However, it seems that not even that potentially negative first impression has affected people’s interest in these devices.

Samsung mainly bet on optimization in its new devices to improve the user experience. The Galaxy S25s are currently the only phones running the long-awaited One UI 7 update. There are also multiple new Galaxy AI features with impressive capabilities. The camera department has also improved a bit, even though the sensors are (mostly) the same.
