Netflix has premiered the trailer for “Plankton: The Movie,” the newest spin-off of the “SpongeBob SquarePants” franchise.
In the Dave Needham-directed film, Sheldon J. Plankton is finally getting his close up. When Plankton’s latest evil scheme is thwarted, Bikini Bottom and the surface world become threatened by an unexpected danger.
Now, before Plankton can take over the world, he’s going to have to save it.
Mr. Lawrence, who voices the character, will return for the film and came up with the story. He also co-wrote the script with Kaz and Chris Viscardi.
Jill Talley (Karen), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs) and Rodger Bumpass (Squidward) co-star.
Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller serve as executive producers. This marks Netflix’s second “SpongeBob” feature following “Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie” last year.
“Plankton: The Movie” will arrive on the service in 2025.
