Dubai Duty Free partners with TerraPay to enable instant digital wallet payments for shoppers
By incorporating digital wallets into its payment ecosystem, Dubai Duty Free reaffirms its commitment to providing innovative and customer-centric payment solutions.
UAE. Dubai Duty Free has struck a partnership with global money movement company TerraPay. This strategic collaboration is set to transform the purchasing experience for shoppers among Dubai International Airport’s near 100 million passenger base, allowing travellers to pay with their home-country digital wallets.
The partnership provides Dubai Duty Free with access to TerraPay’s expansive global network of over 3.7 billion mobile wallets and advanced cross-border payments infrastructure.
This integration will enable Dubai Duty Free to accept customers’ preferred payment methods, simplifying transactions and enhancing the overall shopping experience.
The collaboration comes at a time when digital wallets are reshaping the global payments landscape. Recent industry projections estimate that in 2025, digital wallets will account for 52% of global ecommerce sales volume and 30% of point-of-sale transactions.
They are expected to represent 35% of all cross-border payment methods, underlining growing consumer demand for speed, convenience and accessibility in payments.
TerraPay’s extensive reach includes partnerships with leading mobile money operators such as Airtel Money, M-PESA and MTN MoMo. This enables millions of users to shop at Dubai Duty Free with their digital home-country wallets.
Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Ramesh Cidambi commented: “We are reinforcing our commitment to empower our customers to make purchases using payment methods of their choice. Dubai Duty Free has always been at the forefront of harnessing technology and partnerships to offer the best to our customers, and now with access to TerraPay’s vast network, we’re excited to offer this new payment solution.
