Ferrari revealed its first SUV a few years ago, a convention-breaking move from the Italian supercar maker. The company is ready to ruffle more feathers with a new electric model, confirming that it will launch the vehicle in October as part of its push to release a half-dozen new models this year.
Ferrari did not share details on the upcoming electric model, but spy shots show a small crossover-like shape. We can hear fake exhaust sounds in videos captured of the test vehicle, but it’s unclear if Ferrari will let owners change the sounds. The automaker plans to reveal the vehicle on October 9, with Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna saying it would launch the “elettrica” model in a “unique way.”
The EV is expected to cost more than half a million dollars, though Vigna said he was surprised by reports of the price tag. He also noted that Ferrari generally prices cars about a month before the reveal date, so we’ll see more information in September or so. That said, we will likely see other electrified models from the company soon, as it plans for 60 percent of its sales to be PHEV or EV by the end of 2026. Last year, 51 percent of Ferrari’s sales were hybrid and the remaining 49 percent covered gas models.
