otherthings by THE SHOPHOUSE Presents BUNNEY x UNDERCOVER’s Rabbit Padlock Collection

Currently on view at otherthings by THE SHOPHOUSE is London-based jewelry brand BUNNEY's latest edition of Selected Works, titled The Rabbit. The periodic publication’s newest release looks at the role of the rabbit throughout history, culture and society. Spanning two volumes, the publication also provides an insightful journey on the animal’s symbolism and significance across art, natural history, design and literature. One of the most compelling chapters in the latest edition focuses on the Wah-Tung Lock Factory from Hong Kong, a company that specializes in middle to high-grade locks and metalware. Known for creating the “Rabbit” padlock, Wah-Tung Factory produced locks under the Rabbit brand, all could be identified by a rabbit motif, the letter “R” or an illustrated rabbit. These widely available and affordable locks also serve to represent a time when low-cost, mass-produced metal goods played a part in shaping the city’s manufacturing boom.Culturally, the Rabbit padlock gained fame when it was worn as a necklace by Sid Vicious from the Sex Pistols, who famously wore the lock on a chain around his neck with the key intact. To celebrate this iconic story, BUNNEY has collaborated with UNDERCOVER to create a special Rabbit Padlock collection, which is now displayed in the otherthings space. It features pieces such as the Rabbit Padlock Keyring, Rabbit Padlock Necklace, Rabbit Padlock Bracelet, Rabbit Padlock Necklace with Small Hook and the Rabbit Padlock Bracelet with Small Hook. The pieces are offered in a variety of sizes and are all made from satin-finished 925 sterling silver with enamel fill. Both the collection and the latest edition of Selected Works will be available at otherthings by THE SHOPHOUSE until   February 9, 2025.otherthings by THE SHOPHOUSE31 Sun Chun Street, Tai HangHong KongClick here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
