Revised Lineup for Blackthorn Aston Martin in Dubai
Factory Aston Martin driver Jonathan Adam joins Charles Bateman and Reema Juffali for 4 Hours of Dubai weekend...
Aston Martin squad Blackthorn has announced a revised driver lineup for this weekend’s Asian Le Mans Series double-header in Dubai, featuring factory racer Jonathan Adam.
The British squad’s No. 19 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo will be shared by Adam, Charles Bateman and Saudi female racer Reema Juffali for the two four-hour races that make up the second round of the season.
Adam is well-acquainted with Blackthorn, as he raced for the team in British GT last year together with Giacomo Petrobelli.
Both Adam (erroneously listed as ‘Adams’) and Petrobelli had been due to share a second Blackthorn Aston, the No. 90 car, with Bateman when the entry list for the Dubai round was revealed last month.
However, that entry has now been scratched, with the new lineup effectively replacing the previous No. 19 trio of Claude Bovet, Jason Ambrose and David McDonald.
It reduces the entry for the Dubai round to 46 cars in total, and 29 in the GT class.
There are two other changes to the latest version of the entry list compared to the previous revision.
Thomas Kiefer has been added as a third driver for the High Class Racing Ligier JS P320 Nissan in LMP3, joining Mark Patterson and Anders Fjordbach.
The other change concerns the No. 8 Dragon Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, which now features Lorcan Hanafin alongside Todd Coleman and Aaron Telitz, with ex-IndyCar racer Benjamin Pedersen dropping out of the team’s lineup.
Practice for the 4 Hours of Dubai begins on Friday at 11:15 a.m. local time (2:15 a.m. ET).
