Sustainaholics partners with Lagardère Travel Retail in 100% recycled alumini spirits launch
In collaboration with Compass Supply Solutions, the first-ever airport spirits aluminis collection is featured in Lagardère Travel Retail’s UK Discover London stores.
UK. Sustainaholics has partnered with Lagardère Travel Retail and Compass Supply Solutions to launch the first airport collection of spirits in 100% recycled 5cl aluminium bottles. The alumini range features at the travel retailer’s UK Discover London stores.
As reported, London-based Sustainaholics made its travel retail debut in 2023 with a range of aluminium bottles designed specifically for space and weight constrained airlines. A selection of Sustainaholics bottles were listed onboard easyJet and British Airways in March 2024.
According to Sustainaholics Founder David Mills, the aluminis are 90% lighter than glass, made from 100% post-consumer recycled materials, with a carbon footprint up to 90% lower than the glass and PET 5cl bottles dominating the industry today. “They are shatterproof and ultracompact by design to create operational efficiencies,” he said.
The Discover London stores’ Sustainaholics offer includes spirits from Black Cow Vodka, Wildjac Cherry Spiced Rum and Wildjac Fresh Citrus Vodka, Hyke Gin and Penrhos Gin. A 5cl alumini bottle has a RRP of £3.99 (US$4.99) while a Penrhos 5 x 5cl Gift Set is priced at £13.99 (US$17.50).

“We need to see a far more rapid and urgent adoption of the lower impact alternative packaging formats that now exist for spirits, moving away from an entirely avoidable dependence on the high impact choices of heavy, energy intensive glass or single use PET plastic that continue to dominate a travel industry that should be taking a far stronger lead than it does today.”
