How to revive teammates in Elden Ring Nightreign

When you first drop into your first expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign, be prepared to die — and to watch your teammates die. Luckily, death is not the end. In Nightreign, it’s possible to revive teammates.

That said, the mechanic for reviving teammates in Nightreign is… unconventional, to say the least. Below, here’s how to revive teammates in Elden Ring Nightreign, plus some tips on how to make the most of it.

How to revive teammates in Elden Ring Nightreign

Once a character takes a fatal blow in Elden Ring Nightreign, they enter a state known as near-death, indicated by a segmented countdown gauge in the HUD. The gauge takes roughly 45 seconds to deplete, but as you deal damage to your downed teammate, you can pause the countdown in its tracks. However, if you wait too long between attacks, the cooldown gauge will begin to diminish again.

While in this state, a down can be revived from melee or ranged attacks from their teammates for a set time. As the downed player receives damage, the radial wheel above them will start to deplete. Once depleted, they will be revived with about 40% HP.

If time runs out, the downed character respawns at the last Site of Grace or the nearest safe position. If all players are downed in a Nightlord fight, your expedition is over, and you’re sent back to the Roundtable Hold.

Tips for reviving teammates in Elden Ring Nightreign

Having to deal damage to your party members to revive them might not be what you’d picture in a multiplayer game. The harder it is to deal damage with your weapon of choice, the harder it will be to restore your teammates. Here are some tips that will help extend your expeditions and revive your teammates efficiently.

  • Pick up a ranged weapon on melee classes. Being able to revive teammates from a distance is clutch. Sometimes, players will go down directly next to a powerful enemy, and having a ranged option will allow you to keep a safe distance while also bringing a teammate back. Even if you use it for nothing else, it’s worth reserving a weapon slot for a ranged weapon.
  • Daggers are the best way to revive allies quickly. Since daggers are comparably faster than the rest of the weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign, they are the perfect melee weapon to revive downed party members quickly.
  • Use Character Ultimate Arts. With character revives ties to “damage,” in a pinch, you can use high-damage ultimate skills to revive players in a pinch. With some coordination, downed players can bunch together, allowing for the use of the Guardian’s or Ironeye’s ultimate art to restore them quickly. Revenant players can also use their invincibility ultimate art to instantly revive teammates — as long as they are in range.
