Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. Tease They're Not Done Revealing the Entire Avengers: Doomsday Cast

Hot on the heels of announcing a further 26 cast members for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. have teased they’re not done yet.

Yesterday, Marvel announced the cast of Avengers: Doomsday via a lengthy livestream that confirmed a long list of actors set to join Robert Downey Jr. in the superhero movie, as well as the start of production.

Among the surprises, Channing Tatum will reprise his role as X-Men fan-favorite Gambit. Check out the entire Avengers: Doomsday cast list here.

But there are MCU stars conspicuous by their absence from the list. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, for example, is nowhere to be seen. Neither is Chris Evans, who was reported to have agreed to appear in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars in some way. Evans later denied the report.

Elsewhere, there’s no Hulk, no Hawkeye, no Nick Fury, and no Rhodey. On the X-Men side, there’s no Deadpool, Wolverine, Storm, or Jean Grey.

Superhero fans were quick to express their disappointment that some of their favorites were passed by, but could there be hope yet? In an Instagram post following the reveal, Robert Downey Jr., who is set to play Doctor Doom having led the MCU as Iron Man for so many years, teased there’s plenty more to come.

“That’s what u call a deep bench of talent,” RDJ said. “Actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it.. right?”

Marvel then teased in the comments that "there's always room for more. Directors the Russo Brothers added: "It’s time…"

So, clearly, Marvel isn’t done announcing the Avengers: Doomsday cast. The question is, who else could be set to join in the carnage? Let us know in the comments.

Earlier this month, co-directors the Russo brothers said they see Avengers 5 and 6 as a “new beginning” that will lay the foundation for whatever comes next in Phase 7 of the MCU.

“The only thing I’ll say about the movie is this: we love villains who think they’re the heroes of their own stories,” Joe Russo said. “That’s when they become three-dimensional and they become more interesting. When you have an actor like Robert Downey, you have to create a three-dimensional, well shaped character for the audience. That’s where a lot of our focus is going.”

Avengers: Doomsday is currently set to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, and Secret Wars arrives about a year later in May 2027. Before then, Thunderbolts* comes out in May 2025, TV show Ironheart is out in June, and Phase 6 kicks off with The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.

In October, Marvel Studios added three untitled movie projects to its 2028 release schedule: February 18, 2028; May 5, 2028; and November 10, 2028. It seems increasingly likely one of these movies is X-Men.
