MPL PH season 15 playoffs: Teams, format, and schedule details

After eight long weeks of blood, sweat, and surprise upsets in the Regular Season, the MPL PH S15 playoffs are finally here, kicking off on May 28. The six competing teams are officially locked in for a five-day sprint toward the MPL PH crown, a $75,000 prize pool, and two golden tickets to MSC 2025. With reigning world champions, rookie squads, and old-school rivalries, it’s truly anyone’s guess on who will take home the MPL Immortality Cup.

MPL PH, short for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines, is the premier Mobile Legends esports league in the country – and one of the most competitive in Southeast Asia. Run by Moonton, MPL PH represents the peak of Southeast Asian mobile esports, having produced legendary, championship-winning esports organisations like ECHO (now Team Liquid PH) and Blacklist International.

MPL PH was first introduced in 2018 to foster the growing esports ecosystem in the Philippines, providing an accessible platform for local players to show off their MOBA skills. The league is now in its 15th season, usually two per year: one in early Spring (January/February) and another in late summer (August/September).

Each season lasts around 13 weeks, featuring a Regular Season round-robin and an intense Playoffs bracket. The eight franchised MPL PH teams fight for qualifications to global events like the M World Championship and MSC (MLBB Mid-Season Cup). 

The MPL PH Season 15 playoffs will use a hybrid-bracket format combining single and double elimination stages, beginning on May 28 and ending on June 1, 2025. 

The teams seeded 3rd to 6th in the Group Stage will face off in a single-elimination, best-of-five series, aka Play-Ins. 

The top two seeded teams skip the Play-Ins and receive an automatic round bye straight to the Upper Bracket Semifinals.

All matches, excluding the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final are Bo5. The Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final are both Bo7. 

For the MPL PH S15 playoffs, there’s an impressive $75,000 prize pool on offer, split between all six competing teams based on their performance. 

There are also two golden tickets to the MSC 2025 on offer, awarded to the MPL PH S15 champion and runner-up. This year, this international event will be part of the Esports World Cup in July, securing the Filipino representation in the international event. 

Here are all the invited teams for MPL PH S15 playoffs and their confirmed player rosters, as seen on Liquipedia. Teams AP.Bren and Omega Esports missed out on qualifying for the Playoffs, after finishing 7th and 8th respectively in the Regular Season. 

Team Liquid PH, previously ECHO Esports, are no stranger to competing in Playoffs. They have several MPL Philippines titles under their belts and are hungry for more. With experienced players like Jaypee, KarlTzy, and Sanford, making up their roster, it could be plain sailing for the bannered horse squad. Eyes are on whether Team Liquid PH will come up against their long-time rivals, Aurora, in a 1v1 for the ages.

Aurora has looked on form all season with a solid 25-11 game record throughout the Regular Season. However, they were pipped to the post by Team Liquid PH in the final week after holding the top slot for the majority of the season. Will they come out on top again in the playoffs? Only time will tell. 

Reigning M6 World Champions ONIC Philippines are on a mission to prove that the yellow hedgehogs have still got it, with their iconic catchphrase #itsONICtime. Their experienced roster includes long-time mainstay Super Frince, Brusko, and K1NGKONG, and they have returned to their roots after their sponsorship with esports org Fnatic ended in January this year. 

In their first season in competitive MLBB, Team Falcons PH has already proven themselves with several top-five finishes in SnapDragon Pro Series: Mobile Masters and the IESF National Qualifiers. They took over Blacklist International’s slot earlier this year and have soared with their talented roster. 

TNC Pro Team have finally broken their five-season MPL PH playoffs curse, fighting through to the final stage with a respectable 5-9 overall Regular Season match record. With a solid roster composed of veteran MLBB players like JM and Yawi, will this phoenix finally rise from the ashes? 

In an intense final week, Twisted Minds PH only just scraped their way to the playoffs, besting AP.Bren and Omega Esports with a 3-11 match record. This is an impressive feat, considering it’s their first season in the MLBB pro-league after replacing RSG Philippines. Their roster is full of long-time MLBB pros like Outplayed and MP the King, so we’re all excited to see what they can accomplish in the playoffs stage. 

Based on their Regular Season performances, it’s a toss-up between Team Liquid PH and Aurora as they both have only lost two matches, tarnishing their near-spotless records. However, reigning MLBB world champions ONIC Philippines are also a top contender looking to defend their MPL PH title. 

As the biggest professional MLBB event of the season, MPL PH S15 playoffs has an action-packed schedule spanning across five days. All eyes are on who makes it to the Grand Final, and who will end up with a third-place finish in the Lower Bracket Final.
