Murphy Bed Gas Strut

Hey all, I’m installing a Murphy bed and running into a super frustrating problem. The gas strut won’t connect to the mounting points—it’s off by maybe a millimeter, just enough that I can’t get the ball joint to snap on. I’ve tried pushing, adjusting, and even getting creative with clamps for leverage, but no luck so far. Everything else is lined up perfectly. I know gas struts are under pressure, so I’m hesitant to force it too much and risk breaking something or hurting myself. Is this common? Are there tricks to getting that last bit of give—like temporarily loosening a bracket, changing the angle, compressing the strut slightly beforehand, or something else I haven’t thought of? Would love advice from anyone who’s dealt with this before. Thanks! submitted by /u/ManBearPigLover69 [link] [comments]
