Advice needed on TV wall mount, would this work?

Hi there, new homeowner here looking for help on a project! I want to wall mount a 65" LG CX TV, but I currently have an unused door in that exact spot. The wall itself sounds very full, it's either brick or concrete (the house is approximately 70 years old), so I'm considering removing the door and filling the hole with drywall. However, the anchors for the TV mount would align in the drywall. Since I want to add decorative wood paneling behind the TV, I'm thinking about attaching wood studs horizontally so it overlaps the former door, and then attach the VESA mount to those studs directly. I would also like to add a floating cabinet under the TV. Here's a quick sketch of what I have in mind. https://preview.redd.it/2ksxe9ipnnme1.png?width=1548&format=png&auto=webp&s=05407e63e0e91037fcbce38df8d143a742ce95f9 Is this doable? If it is, what kind of wood and thickness would be appropriate? Also, what would be the best way to attach the wood to the wall itself, and the VESA mount to the wood? Thanks for reading! submitted by /u/AcidFett [link] [comments]

Is this doable? If it is, what kind of wood and thickness would be appropriate?

Also, what would be the best way to attach the wood to the wall itself, and the VESA mount to the wood?
