Upgrade Disks allow you upgrade your rooms in Blue Prince by adding extra items — or, in some cases, completely changing the room’s effect.
In this Blue Prince guide, we’ll explain how to use Upgrade Disks, show you where to find all Upgrade Disk locations, and also explain how to change room upgrades (if you so need).
How to use Upgrade Disks in Blue Prince
Once you find an Upgrade Disk, take the disk to a terminal in either the Security, Office, Laboratory, or Shelter to upgrade a room. The terminal will randomly select one of 15 rooms, and then you’ll choose between one of three upgrade options. These upgrades are permanent, and cannot be changed for a long time, so choose wisely!
Below, see where to find every Upgrade Disk in Blue Prince.
All Upgrade Disk locations in Blue Prince

There are 16 Upgrade Disks scattered around the estate in Blue Prince:
- Office — Found on the desk.
- Garage — Open the trunk of the car with the Car Keys item.
- Commissary — One Upgrade Disk is purchasable in the Commissary.
- Foundation — On a box on the lower floor of the Foundation.
- Great Hall — Behind one of the locked doors.
- Her Ladyship’s Chamber — Found beside Lady Epsen’s Diary.
- Morning Room — Found on a counter beside a few jars.
- Archives — Use the Patio File Cabinet Key (found by digging in front of the grill in the Patio) on one of the file cabinets inside the Archives.
- Freezer — Melt the frozen doorway to find an Upgrade Disk sitting on top of a wooden crate inside.
- Vault — Use Vault Key 304 to find an Upgrade Disk inside the storage locker.
- Tomb — Prior to getting the Upgrade Disk in the Tomb, you’ll need either the Burning Glass or Torch. Once inside the Tomb, immediately turn to your left to find two ruby socketed candlesticks. Light both candles to reveal a secret area, which contains an Upgrade Disk.
- Abandoned Mine — Found in the Torch Chamber area underground.
- Mechanarium — Found behind the second intercardinal door in the Mechanarium.
- Trading Post (#1) — Prior to getting the Upgrade Disk in the Trading Post, you’ll need either the Burning Glass or Torch. Ignite the dynamite inside, which will explode and reveal a hidden distillery. On top of a barrel inside the secret room, you’ll find an Upgrade Disk.
- Trading Post (#2) — There’s a chance to trade for an Upgrade Disk when trading items purchased from the Showroom.
- Lost and Found — Found on a table inside.
How to change room upgrades in Blue Prince

Changing your room upgrade is possible, but it’ll require you to have all of your rooms already upgraded.
To change your room upgrade, you’ll first need to trade for an Upgrade Disk at the Trading Post again — meaning you’ll need items from the Showroom. When trading Showroom items at the Trading Post, you’ll usually receive an Allowance Token, but there’s a chance to receive an Upgrade Disk instead.
Once you’ve received an Upgrade Disk from the Trading Room, insert the disk into a terminal to change a random room. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to select which room to change, but you’ll still be able to choose one of the three upgrade options.
