Building a floor in the crawlspace
My house is built on a slope as a result there's a lot of space in the crawlspace. The entry is regular door and I have a roughly 34'x12' run that has no plumbing or pipes and tons of headspace (I can't jump and touch the ceiling). It's got the plastic vapor barrier in place. I'm want to build a floor in there so it is level and can be used for storage. One side would be on the ground, the other raised to make it level. My thought was to do it like I was building a deck, frame it with joists every 16" and 6x6 posts where it needs to be raised up. Is building something like this in the crawlspace on top of the vapor barrier a bad idea? How do I protect the vapor barrier against being punctured by the posts for the floor? A contractor (who never got back to me with an estimate) said he planned to put plywood sheets under the posts to protect the vapor barrier, would that work? submitted by /u/analogNerd [link] [comments]
