Concrete resurfacing?

Our driveway is very old and rough and difficult to sweep and keep clean plus it's not a great play surface for our little one. It has several cracks and a few patches from when the sewer line was redone. The aggregate is exposed and every time I pressure wash it (w/ 2000psi electric) tons of sand granules wash toward the drain causing issues there. I'm wondering if "re-cap" or another brush on self leveling concrete resurfacing product is a good option for us. Most of it will require an 1/8th inch coverage while there are low spots that might be as deep as an inch which might need to be done in two steps. If this is deemed appropriate and worthwhile, is first etching the drive with muriatic acid advisable? Is there a bonding agent necessary or advisable? I understand that where I have old cracks they will likely reappear after it's resurfaced. How can I prep the cracks to minimize this? Ripping out and repouring a new slab would be too expensive and out of the question. We may however tear out the narrow 7' wide portion between the house and fence and install a combination of turf pavers and ground cover. But we never drive a car on it back to the garage from the front of the house. It's just used as a walkway. picture submitted by /u/rowyourboat72 [link] [comments]
