Need advice on how to finish fireplace niches
First DIY. I am attempting to build some arched niches with shelves on either side of my fireplace (first photo for inspo). I am looking for advice on two things: 1) best way to finish the median between the masonry and drywall (photos 2 and 3). I had original thought of just doing some trim moulding along the edge; however a contractor relative advised instead filling it with silicon/backerrod. 2) how to finish the corner edge of either niche.
