DIY Pergola
Thinking of adding a pergola to the deck and would like opinions. Length of the deck is 27’ (post to post in the picture) and from house to post is 21’. Would it look weird to have a pergola only over half the deck since one side is largely covered by trees? Afternoon sun is what we are trying to shade from. The current posts are just attached to the deck so won’t work as supports. Should I put in concrete footings below where the posts are now? Seems hard to get around the current decking to put in footings but would look better than off the end or side. Any other ideas or thoughts based on the pictures?
