Remedy Entertainment announced on Thursday that FBC: Firebreak, its upcoming three-person cooperative shooter set in the Remedy Extended Universe, will launch worldwide on June 17. The release date was revealed via a livestream on Remedy’s Twitch and YouTube channels, which featured live gameplay of the “Paper Chase” mission and another, previously unseen mission called “Hot Fix.”

Set six years after the events of 2019’s Control, players will assume the role of first-responders trapped in the impossible dimensions of the Oldest House as they fight to survive and fend off hostile incursion by the Hiss, a preternatural force that’s possessed many of the former employees of the Federal Bureau of Control.

FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative shooter designed for pick-up-and-play and ease of access, allowing players both familiar and unfamiliar with either Control or the Remedy Extended universe to hop in and fend off supernatural threats alongside their friends or a pair of AI-controlled companions.

Central to this philosophy are Requisitions, an in-game system which rewards players with new gear and cosmetics simply by playing the game. These include weapons, equipment, armor, sprays, and more – all unlockable using in-game currency earned through missions and accessible at all points, with no limited-time windows or rotation. For those so inclined, FBC: Firebreak also allows players additional customization options via “Classified Requisitions,” which offer premium cosmetics such as armor sets, voice packs, and weapon skins that can be purchased with real money. Not to worry, though: These items are purely cosmetic; no pay-to-win incentive here.

Remedy confirmed plans for ongoing support post-launch, including two new “Jobs” (i.e. missions) set to launch in 2025. All playable content released after launch will be free to all players.
