Garage door hits the track of the door opener

So I’m definitely not an expert, just trying to see if a garage door opener is even possible or if I have the worst designed garage door ever. I put the door opener in, but the garage door doesn’t open because it hits the track (black metal rod that holds the little piece that moves back and forth on a bike chain) - so I tried installing it touching the rafters, door still hits. I wish I took pictures with the door opener installed but I’ll include a picture of how close the door comes to the rafters. Short of cutting a hole in the rafters or something stupid that I’m not going to attempt, does anyone have any ideas? I guess if the little metal arm that connects the track to the door was longer I could just move the opener and the track back farther. submitted by /u/zelstark [link] [comments]
