Attach basement stud wall to furring strips?
I’m refinishing a 70s era basement. After removing wood panelling, I discovered the panels were attached to 1 inch thick furring strips attached to the foundation wall. I want to create 2x4 wall where the furring strips. I was wondering if it makes sense to build the wall and attach to the furring strips directly. The advantage of this over removing the strips is they are in good condition and perfectly plumb. Should I go through the time and effort to remove them? Or build wall right on the furring strips? If building on the furring strips, should I add anything between studs and furring strips for moisture? submitted by /u/In_Sillico [link] [comments]
