Hanging cabinets with no top stud?

How do I secure the new cabinets with nothing to screw into at the top? This is where our previous cabinets were hung. We had to hire someone to remove them, but there were nine screws - top, middle, bottom - securing each one to the wall, but I don't know what the top portion was screwed into since there's no stud there except for the two vertical supports. Is it okay to screw portions of the top into the drywall only, as long as it's secured to the wood/metal in all other available areas? I got a picture of the studs, second picture shows the old cabinets. This wall is now finished and ready for new cabinets. Unfortunately it's too late to add new wooden studs.. The new cabinets are the same size as the ones in picture 2. Two cabinets that are each 30 inches wide, 42 inches high. submitted by /u/spicyprairiedog [link] [comments]
