Royal Ascot 2025 Recap: Kate Middleton’s Absence, Big Wins, and the Best Fashion Moments

Every June, one of Britain’s most iconic traditions returns in a celebration of pageantry, high fashion, and world-class horse racing: Royal Ascot. Held in the English countryside at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, the five-day event isn’t just about the races—it’s a cornerstone of British culture, dating back to 1711 when Queen Anne founded it. Today, it’s attended by royals, celebrities, and racing enthusiasts alike, all dressed to the nines.

This year’s Royal Ascot, which took place June 17–21, was no exception. Spectators saw victories, including Field of Gold dominating the St James’s Palace Stakes and Ombudsman taking the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. The event also welcomed first-time wins, with Scottish trainer Jim Goldie and Irish trainer Paddy Twomey both celebrating maiden Royal Ascot victories.

A major draw each year is the Royal Procession, where members of the royal family arrive in horse-drawn carriages to open the day’s races. While King Charles III and Queen Camilla were in attendance, Kate Middleton—a regular attendee and known for her polished, elegant style—was notably absent. The Princess of Wales is currently recovering from her cancer treatment and pulled out at the last minute, with Prince William stepping in solo.

Despite her absence, the fashion was still elegant and classy, as it always is, with a strict dress code. Statement hats, structured silhouettes, and timeless tailoring ruled the day. Between the sporting triumphs and regal tradition, Royal Ascot 2025 proved why it remains one of the world’s most prestigious social events.
