Help with studs and drilling
Okay so. In my first grown up apartment. Trying to hang up this gorgeous clock. It’s just heavy enough to warrant a screw/nail situation. Got a craftsman stud finder. Used it. Each black rectangle represents a stud’s location according to the stud finder. The red arrow is pointing down at an outlet. There is an air vent next to the shelf as you can see. On the other side of this wall is the laundry room which has the AC and my gas/electric so I am being very cautious. I know this stud finder is crap at detecting other stuff (wires/metal pipes/water pipes/etc). Is it safe to use a screw where I put that blue circle? Should I use drywall anchors instead? How can I be sure I won’t drill into pipes or wiring or anything else like that? I assumed those were accurate stud spots because the vent may be drilled in there. I also went up the wall with the stud finder to be sure. submitted by /u/mantlepicturedream [link] [comments]
