How to prep stairs for vinyl plank?
Planning on installing vinyl plank on our basement stairs, while pulling off the carpet I noticed that the wood pieces on the risers are not thick enough to sit flush with the tread, so there's a 1/8-1/4" in overhang which is not ideal for the vinyl. My question is how should I go about squaring these up for installing vinyl over them? I was considering just installing something like 1/2" thick boards over the full front of each stair, or ripping out the existing riser pieces and putting in thicker boards that would be flush with the treads. Maybe something else? What would you all do? submitted by /u/Tron08 [link] [comments]
