Inherited a house with a “new roof”
Started a full gut and remodel in spring, hoarder house and property so a month or two of just dump runs. Come first rain and it turns out the roof leaks all over. I first suspected an attic vent only to discover ridge caps and shingles with no nails, and rusting nails on a 2-3 year old roof. It’s a fairly small basic rectangular a frame with true 1x6 sheathing for the roof. I can see dry rot however in spots, some places the wood is very brittle. Is the best method to pull the shingles and tar paper, replace the damaged boards, then re shingle? Or would it be ok to put 1x4s and corrugated steel panels on top? submitted by /u/slant__i [link] [comments]
