Lord of the Rings fans can (and should) own the Shadow of Mordor saga for just $7

Monolith Productions was responsible for some legendary PC titles during its 20-year run, but its final projects, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and Shadow of War, represent some of the studio’s best work.

If these titles flew under your radar when they initially launched in 2014 and 2017, you can currently pick up both titles along with all of their respective DLC for just $6.99 on Steam through March 13 (was $69.99).

While the now inactive servers for both titles mean that you won’t be able to access features like the Nemesis Forge or Vendetta missions, all of the rewards previously exclusive to online play will be unlocked for you automatically.

The Shadow games are best described as stealth-focused immersive sims set in the fiction of The Lord of the Rings’ Middle-earth. You’ll travel around a large map, completing objectives ranging from torching enemy encampments to taking down massive creatures. However, the most unique feature of these titles is how they use the now-patented Nemesis system, which allows specific high-ranking enemies to recall your previous engagements and even compete in the greater pecking order of Middle-earth, growing stronger or adapting to some of your favorite strategies. The Shadow saga first arrived at the height of Troy Baker’s power, who provides an excellent performance for series protagonist Talion. But both entries in the franchise feature a truly staggering array of all-star voice talent. A short list of names to keep an ear open for include Nolan North, Jennifer Hale, Matt Mercer, and even Kumail Nanjiani.
