Lowering 6x10 wallregister under cabinets

I have a 6x10 wall vent/register that is terminating a duct that is 3-1/2" x 10", and I want to install a cabinet where it's located. It would be blocked by the back of the cabinet, so instead of running it into the back of the cabinet and down to the toe kick, would the following work? Cut the drywall down to the floor level. Insert a 3-1/4 x 3-1/4 90 into the duct, screw and tape it. Leave the 6x10 portion which will now basically be abandoned and no air should get up to it because the 90 is redirecting everything under the cabinet. Run a 3-1/4 x 10 x 24 duct to the toe kick to a register there. Does that make sense? Is this how it's typically done? submitted by /u/ctrldown [link] [comments]
