TL;DR
- Disclaimer: This article combines confirmed details with industry speculation. We’ll update it regularly as new info or leaks emerge.
- The first of the Future Foundation skins is available and free.
- You’ll need to get the Combat Chest to unlock Mister Fantastic.
- A Human Torch skin is notably absent.
- We’ll likely see the next Future Foundation skin on June 6th.
- Mister Fantastic formed the Future Foundation to be a guiding light for the rest of humanity; it’s one of the more popular Fantastic Four comic book arcs.
The first of the Marvel Rivals Future Foundations skins has arrived in the stretchy form of Mr. Fantastic, though there are a few more on the way in the coming weeks. The seasonal update ushered in a well-received overhaul to the shooter’s meta, but, of course, it’s the cosmetics that have caught fans’ eyes.
The new costumes are just a few of the skins making the latest Marvel Rivals update’s collection the biggest yet. Picking up the Mr. Fantastic skin is free, and you will just have to take part in a Combat Chest, a new addition to the game that allows you to unlock a total of 20 new cosmetics (this includes emotes, sprays, and all the other bells and whistles). That said, it’s a time-based offer, so you’d be wise to get started soon.
What are Marvel Rivals Future Foundation skins?
Comic fans will recognise the design of the new white clad Marvel Rivals skins from the Future Foundation arc, much more sci-fi, even compared to the rest of the story.
But despite the consistency in visual design, it’s unlikely that the rest of the collection will be available through the Combat Chest. Instead, it’s expected that they will be sold through the Marvel Rivals store, as is the case with most of the best Marvel Rivals characters. Mister Fantastic is available for free if you complete Level 18 of the Combat Chest, though that will require 7,200 XP.

Mister Fantastic’s costume also comes with a snazzy visor and a newly greyed beard; silver fox vibes that could easily earn him a spot among the best Marvel Rivals skins. Thankfully, the goofy Fantasticar he’s riding in doesn’t come with the set. Instead, you’ll get a few additional trinkets:
- Future Foundation nameplate
- Future Foundation spray
- Identity Overhaul emote
- We Are The Future MVP

Reed Richards’ emote also lets you invert the colour scheme on the costume, which is why it looks different in the MVP cutscene as opposed to the in-game footage. However, as of yet, we know quite little about what else will be included in the sets for the other characters who are getting Future Foundation skins.
Which characters are getting Future Foundation skins?
Mister Fantastic’s skin is here, and we’ve had a glance at the other Marvel Rivals characters getting Future Foundation costumes, too.
Name | How to unlock | Cost |
---|---|---|
Mister Fantastic Future Foundation | Complete Level 18 of the Combat Chest | 7,200 XP |
The Invisible Woman Future Foundation | Unknown | Unknown |
The Thing Future Foundation | Unknown | Unknown |
Spider-Man Future Foundation | Unknown | Unknown |

As expected, the community’s reaction to this has been one of bewilderment. Why Spidey and not the Human Torch? Well, he’s probably not going to be getting a Future Foundation skin this time round. In this comic arc, he sacrifices himself to save the others.
That’s the backstory to the Future Foundation, whose insignia is three dots as opposed to the classic symbol, representing their loss. This does change later on in the comics after it’s revealed that Johnny Storm didn’t die, so there’s a glimmer of hope that he’ll also see a skin to fit in with the rest of the group. We’ll have to see.
Expected Future Foundation skins and release window
We’ve only just gotten through the first few pages of Marvel Rivals Season 2.5. Based on a pattern of former release dates for Marvel Rivals skins, NetEase typically spaces apart cosmetic drops by a week. Since we had Mister Fantastic on May 30th, we’ll see the other follow a similar pattern.
- Second Future Foundation Skin: June 6
- Third Future Foundation Skin: June 13
- Fourth Future Foundation Skin: June 20
Unfortunately, we won’t know which ones will come when, although it seems logical that the Invisible Woman will be next. Other upcoming Marvel Rivals skins, such as the Summer Swimsuit skins, will be released on July 9, 2025.
Conclusion
With the Future Foundation cosmetics, some of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Rivals roster are getting a much-appreciated visual upgrade. Though we don’t know exactly when the others will release, nor how much they will cost, from what we’ve seen so far, they’re going to be fan favourites.
FAQs
NetEase developed and published Marvel Rivals in conjunction with Marvel Games. The developer has also worked on other Marvel titles before, Marvel Super War and Marvel Duel.
Including the four Future Foundation skins and the nine other skins introduced in Season 2.5, there are now 148 skins in Marvel Rivals.
After Johnny Storm died in Fantastic Four, Reed Richards formed a team of young, brilliant minds. The Future Foundation was formed as a result; a group of space-time jumping heroes defending reality against cosmic threats, engaging in scientific research, and collaborative problem solving to build a better future for humanity.
The Future Foundation features quite a few different characters from the comics, though the most notable ones are Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch (at times), Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Valeria Richards (Reed and Sue’s daughter), Franklin Richards (Reed and Sue’s son), Ant-Man, Luna, Medusa, Alex Power, Julie Power, among quite a few others.
So far, the Mister Fantastic Future Foundation skin is free if you have the Combat Chest and a little time to spare. We can expect the other skins to cost 1,600 Lattice, which is the typical price for these skins.
