Nike's Tyla-Approved Air Max Dn8 Just Dropped in a Bold Red Color for Spring

Nike revealed a new sneaker in February called the Air Max Dn8. The shoe, with its bauble-y silhouette sole and smooth upper, has quickly become a celebrity-favorite, worn by musicians like Central Cee and Tyla, in addition to athletes like Victor Wembanyama. The latest colorway, "University Red," is set to drop March 6.

The shoe, which retails for $190, has Nike Dynamic Air (the brand's proprietary footwear cushioning) throughout the entire length of the foot. This is in stark contrast to the likes of its Air Max 1, for example, which has units in the heel and toe box for support in those specific spots. What does the extended Air unit mean for the Dn8? It leads to a sneaker that can "effectively compress and be way more flexible, delivering a much bouncier, springier sensation," according to Jonathan Kosenick, lead men's sportswear designer at Nike, in a press release.

Nike dropped its debut Air Max Dn8 in a bright pink color, just in time for Valentine's Day. The new "University Red" hue, however, has much bolder energy with its ombré look that goes from cherry red to burgundy. For those who opt out of soft hues and spring pastels, these red kicks are perfect for the new season.

“When designing the Dn8, we kept thinking about what makes some of our favorite classic Air Max models so great: that you can put them on and go, and no matter what happens over the course of the day, that shoe is not only going to succeed, it’s going to exceed expectations,” Kosenick added in the press release. “We wanted to build a shoe that had the same sort of, ‘go anywhere, do anything’ character—an impulsivity, a versatility that will perform under any circumstance."

The latest "University Red" colorway will be available to shop Thursday, March 6 in men's and women's versions on Snkrs, on Nike's website, and at select retail partners.
