out wall bottom rotten and carpenter ants

I live in New England and recently noticed carpenter ants inside my house. I found some rotten trim on the out wall and noticed ants entering a space between the rotten trim and front door frame. I removed some of the rotten trim but did not find the ant nest. I noticed a few ants behind the rotten trim. I can feel that sheet above the trim and behind the siding is rotten too. I suspect that ants might be behind the siding. Just don't know how high above the bottom trim. Should I remove the bottom siding to check? How did water getting into the bottom trim? The siding is painted and I did not see any hole that water can getting behind the siding. submitted by /u/EducationalBit6202 [link] [comments]
