Questions about replacing a window in shower in Florida

Hello all, I'm working on a diy bathroom remodel, I'm about to tackle replacing this window in the shower. My goal is to replace the window and eventually cement board and tile around it. I've been doing research but I'm not too sure what's going on with this window sill in the shower. It looks like there is some mortar there with different slabs on it? I'm not too sure how to proceed in this regard. It looks like the sill portion needs to be removed to properly warerproof. Can I remove it all and just replace it with cement board and tile? Or should I look into removing it and replacing it in similar fashion? If anyone has any tips or things to Google to help point me in the right direction that would be great! Can I remove the mortar with a handheld jackhammer, without damaging the cinder block? submitted by /u/thegungeon [link] [comments]
