Questions for backfilling patio against a small wall

My backyard has a bit of slope, so I trenched out and graded an area for a wall. The wall will sit about 4-6 inches high at the front and pretty much an inch above grade closer to the house (highest point) to account for the slope. From what I’ve read the wall should be backfilled with 3/4 clean stone, but does that matter with a wall this size that isn’t retaining much in terms of soil? What should I be backfilling with? My plan was to then have the area where the pavers sit be on graded base+sand+paver to line up with the top of the wall. Any issues with this? If I switch to 3/4 clean stone, I’ve never seen anything that then levels either sand. Looks like they all use a small chip stone. Thanks! submitted by /u/ugfish [link] [comments]
