Sinéad O'Dwyer Studies Character for Fall/Winter 2025

Sinéad O’Dwyer’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, showcased during London Fashion Week, marks a pivotal moment in her creative journey, blending her signature style while evolving her vision. Presented under the theme of “Character Studies,” the show serves as both a retrospective and a forward-looking manifesto—one that is inclusive to all bodies.

In O’Dwyer's creative world, she's introduced a myriad of characters, including everything from the rebellious spirit of not-so-well-behaved teenagers to the dark and sensual energy of a dungeon master. In these realms of these characters, O'Dwyer's vision comes to life in sexy leathers, newfound use of denim, and odes to her Irish heritage.

A hallmark of the show is the reimagining of O’Dwyer’s signature shirting. Traditional elements—a supportive internal band, visibly constructed bust details, and piped trims—are updated with modern touches such as paneled yoke detailing and zipped closures. Along with her signature shirting, O'Dwyer introduces a contour-skimming pencil skirt that transitions into a playful bubble hem at the calf—experimenting with volume and structure.

The collection further explores the dichotomy of fluidity and structure through silk organza garments, including a criss-cross harnessed dress that balances delicate sensuality and bold designs.  O’Dwyer’s exploration of contrasting textures continues with a series of meticulously crafted leather pieces in cloaks and belts. Complementing this, O’Dwyer further refines her denim with high-collared denim jackets and sculpted bust darts.

In a nod to her Irish heritage, collaborating with Grounds, O’Dwyer introduced calf and thigh boots that evoke the spirit of classic Irish dancing shoes. These boots are integrated with squiggle knit socks and inventive front-lacing details, which also make an appearance on sheer organza dresses and tailored leather trousers throughout the collection.

O'Dwyer has also been known for her commitment to inclusivity in luxury fashion, casting models of all body shapes, including a model in a wheelchair.

This collection stands as her final presentation as a BFC NewGen recipient and comes on the heels of her achievement as a semi-finalist for the 2025 LVMH Prize—a fitting context for a collection that revisits and reinvents the colorful cast of characters she has introduced over the past four years.
