Smart Waterfall Mirror Powered by Home Assistant

I've done quite a few DIY projects over the years, but this one might take the cake. I originally started with the MagicMirror platform, but halfway through, I thought—why not go all in with a Home Assistant dashboard instead? The result is a fully functional smart waterfall mirror: two-way glass over a waterfall, with an old desktop monitor hidden behind it and a Raspberry Pi 4 running the show. With some elbow grease and a bit of electrical work, every component—from the water pump and mirror lighting to the display is controllable via Home Assistant. The back and cable management are still a work in progress, and I’ve already 3D printed a case for the monitor’s buttons. The frame is just basic plywood, but I wrapped it in vinyl to give it a cleaner look. It’s not perfect—but the imperfections are tucked away in the back. Videos are on my Reddit page if anyone's interested. Let me know what you think—and if you want a parts list or setup guide, I’m happy to share! submitted by /u/cameron_chill [link] [comments]
