The true and classic way to frame a header!
None of that wussy joist hanger stuff here! This is the REAL way you support a floor. Yes that's right, you put the header in with a 1" mortise and tenon joint, then the joist goes into that header with, you guessed it, a 1" mortise and tenon joint. It runs about 16'... well, into another header at the stairs, which is probably similar. There are 3 consecutive joists coming off of this header. 1888 brick townhouse.
