This Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set Is on Sale for 48% Off at Amazon

Here’s a deal for Lord of the Rings mega-fans. A gorgeous, full-color, illustrated hardcover box set of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic trilogy is on sale at Amazon for $168.84 – and according to the price tracker Camelcamelcamel, that's a new all-time low sale price. That’s still not pocket change, but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the set’s $325 MSRP. The three quality hardcovers come in a deluxe slipcase and feature loads of drawings and paintings by the English artist Alan Lee, who help lead the concept design for Peter Jackson’s film adaptations.

Save on The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set

The box set contains the three books of the Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. The books are illustrated with over 50 full-page color paintings and dozens of pencil drawings by Alan Lee. The cover art for each book is new in this revised edition, as are a number of the paintings and over 50 of the pencil drawings. The set also comes with three removable art cards and two foldout maps of Middle-earth drawn by Christopher Tolkien.

A few extra features are also new to this edition. All three books come with sprayed edges that look great (you can see them in the photo slideshow above). The books are housed in a custom-built, illustrated slipcase that’s stamped in silver foil. The overall design is stunning. This set is definitely designed for collectors and super-fans of LotR, but it’s a worthy set for anyone who can afford it, especially at this all-time low price.
