best Smoke/CO alarm for seasonal cabin?
I have old Smokes at my family cabin and want to upgrade to smoke/co combo's. they are currently hardwired and I do not believe they have battery backup. We shut the power off for 6 months of the year over winter and do not return. I dont really want to replace backup batteries every year as my understanding is when i shut off the power, the batteries will keep them active until they beep and die. Can i take the backup batteries out of a detector and still have it functioning when power is on? I would like to avoid going up and pulling out/putting in batteries twice a year. should i just go with a 10 year battery and not hardwire it? I'd like to make use of hardwire but don't want to deal with dead batteries 2 or more times a year. thx. submitted by /u/FlopSweat84 [link] [comments]
