Built in Bookshelves
First major home improvement project since moving in a year and a half ago (also did a home gym conversion, but that was just paint and rubber mats). There was a protruding foundation wall with wood paneling everywhere that we weren’t happy with. I had to extend out the wall a 2x4’s width to make the bookshelves appropriately deep. Then built 6 bookshelves out of 3/4” plywood (1/2” for the back), and then did poplar trim on the front. Took about 3 months of slowly chipping away at it but it is now all done other than a bit of touch up work (hit the ceiling with the paint gun, have one more trim board I need to cut, etc.). I definitely wouldn’t describe myself as super handy but I’m working on getting there. My wife wants to do some wainscoting on the wall below but I’m not sold. Now just waiting on a 4th of July or Labor Day furniture sale to get a reading chair to put in the corner. submitted by /u/grossest2 [link] [comments]
