Venting over-the-range microwave in tight space
The installation instructions say to install the damper plate before installing the oven, but if I do that the damper plate is blocked by the transition piece when I try to pivot the oven into position. I can try to first push the detached damper plate into the transition piece, then pivot the oven into position, then attach the damper plate to the oven, but this is a real pain, and I have a feeling there's an easier way. How is this supposed to work? The ductwork has no give at all -- completely rigid. I've thought of trimming the round duct and inserting a short length of semi-rigid. But as you can see there's very little clearance in here. It's 9 1/2" top-to-bottom, and the transition piece eats up a good chunk of that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/JuicyMurmur [link] [comments]
