Core Drill Slab for Water Main Replacement Help
Having the water and sewer lines replaced to my home and have a floor entry service line. I'm considering doing the concrete demo/patch job myself to spare some expense but could use some advice. The service line exits straight out towards the cincerblock wall. Trenching will be done up to the foundation of the home. My initial thought was to remove the 2x4 on the floor, turn off the water at the shutoff near the street, cut the galvanized flush with the floor, and use a rented SDS drill and core saw to cut a 4-5" hole around the water line. Would that work decently well and provide enough access for the job? Is there an easier way? Any advice otherwise here? I just bought the house and the city replaced the water main and laterals to the property line and handed me the pipe pictured as what they had cut out and replaced. The internal diameter of that pipe is less than half an inch with all of the mineral build up too... I imagine the cast sewer hub will be left in place as I had the line scoped and it transitions to PVC immediately after the hub in the floor. It then transitions back to cast near the street for some unknown reason. submitted by /u/PneumoTime [link] [comments]
