Dani Bereznay departs Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports team amid exit rumours

Dani Bereznay has announced he has departed Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports, the sim racing branch of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One (F1) team.

The Hungarian sim racing driver has represented the outfit since 2018, winning the inaugural F1 Esports championship involving all 10 teams.

In addition to being part of the team that won the F1 Esports championship in 2018, Bereznay also represented Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen Esports, now known as the KICK F1 Sim Racing Team.

Alongside departing Mercedes, Veloce Esports has also announced he will depart its sim racing roster. Bereznay is yet to reveal details on a potential move to another team ahead of the 2025/26 F1 Sim Racing World Championship.

“We had some lows, but had way more highs together, we always fought together, and I can only be grateful for the opportunities I got,” Bereznay wrote in a social media post.

“To be able to represent probably the biggest ever car brand in the world and one of the biggest in motorsport is something that I could not have even dreamt of when why was a kid in a small room in my parents house playing a video game, dreaming of one day somehow being a part of Formula One.”

The departure of Bereznay has left many debating whether Mercedes is preparing to leave F1 Sim Racing entirely. Despite the rumours, the team has yet to reveal its future plans.

Mercedes also competes in Rennsport R1 in collaboration with Team MSI and TC Racing, a sim racing organisation owned by Belgian goalkeeper Thibault Courtois.

Following the conclusion of the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship, several teams have already begun rebuilding rosters ahead of the new season. In May, Lucas Blakeley left McLaren Shadow while June saw former AMF1 Esports driver Otis Lawrence depart the team.
